Extra Extra Read All About It!

Photo By Richard Sennott, Star Tribune

Kim Palmer from the Star Tribune dropped by the house last Monday to interview Roxie and me.
Needless to say I was an anxious wreck, and a nervous nelly up until she and photog Richard Sennott arrived. No need to worry though...Kim put me at ease with her great conversational interview style. We talked a lot about design, our house, and my path to Roxiedoggie. Plus it really helped that Roxie is a professional model, and always camera ready. It was an awesome experience and I learned a lot about print articles and how to approach them. In the past it has been easier doing press, because Roxie has always been the star of the show. When the Sunday paper arrived, I almost couldn't look at it. It was surreal. I am starting to feel like a real designer. Now, because of this experience, I have a little more confidence in myself and my abilities, and encourage every artist and designer to keep putting themselves out there. Go Go Guerilla Marketing! Check out the article in the Star Tribune online.

Who Doesn't Love A Dog Parade?

Last Friday was the Northeast Dog Parade. Roxiedoggie was invited to have a booth in the vendors area at the end, and it was a blast! It seemed like there were hundreds of dogs there of every type and kind. I met the wonderful ladies from Sidewalk Dog, and Ken from Stuntpuppy. Roxiedoggie bowls were well received, and I got a lot of great feedback from dog owners. There were samples of Sojos food, and a new dog beer that I didn't catch the name of (blart!), but I think they carry it at Boneadventure.
I also premiered new handmade leashes made from organic cotton. The fabrics are a pink faux bois, and a teal print featuring woodland creatures like squirrels, birds, and foxes.

I am also looking into laser cut leather and felt for really beautiful modern collars inspired by crochet. I'll be posting the organic cotton leashes this week for sale on Etsy, and on Roxiedoggie.com. Thanks to everybody who came out to the parade, I really loved meeting all of you.

It Is All In The Pants

Here I am...marketing machine of one. I finally got the Roxiedoggie Facebook Fanpage up. After one failed attempt, and accidently creating another Facebook account for myself, I think I got it this time. Sometimes being an artist or designer is tough. You have to be a PR person, accountant, shipper receiver, webmaster, and graphic designer. Some people refer to this as wearing different hats. Well I imagine it more like wearing different pants. Right now today, I am wearing two pairs of pants. I've got my marketing pants on, and my fabrication pants on. Roxie has her "I'm going to lay on the couch and sleep" pants on. That's a lot of pants people. So I just wanted to thank all my creative friends who have helped me when I realized I didn't have the proper pants for the job. You guys are awesome. Check out the Fanpage and let us know what you think.

Press and Praise

It has been a crazy month here at Roxiedoggie, but the good kind of crazy. I just wanted to give a thanks to all the people who have mentioned us in their blogs. Thanks Twin Cities Design Scene for being the first to feature us. You rock Dog-Milk.com for your lovely feature on Roxiedoggie bowls. Roxie says "thanks" for mentioning her as a contributor to the design process. In reality, her job is mostly sleeping on the couch, and eating from the bowls. Also thanks to my favorite store in New York, Moss, for Tweeting about how awesome our product is. Who knows, maybe one day they will carry us. I might drop dead of happiness if that happens. As of right now, the wholesale orders are in, and the web store should be up in a couple of days so people can buy directly. I am very grateful, and so is Roxie. Thanks everybody.

Hello World...We Are ROXIEDOGGIE

So here are Roxie and her friend Canopener in their modeling debut. Yes, his name is Canopener. This photo shoot is pretty much the official launch of the Roxiedoggie product line featuring modern dog bowl holders. We have the Big Bend Bowl Holder which is a one quart and a two quart stainless bowl nestled in a bending birch frame. Available in Maple or super sexy Zebrawood. Also there is the Little Bend Bowl Holder which houses a single one quart bowl also available in Maple and Zebrawood. I just launched the website two days ago. Right now we are only doing wholesale, but hopefully soon Roxiedoggie will have an e-commerce presence to sell directly to the public. Puppy steps people, we are taking puppy steps. Coming soon...T Shirts. Can't wait for that photo shoot.
